Hi Mike

Really enjoyed your pics of SA. I would like a little bit of advice (or from anyone else)
as I'm planning on visiting SA for a year and backpacking to most destinations (ie; the
north and south).

What type of clothing layers did you take, and did you camp, if so what type of sleeping
bag did you use?

And are the bus's in Peru as terrifying as I've heard.

Look forward to your response

Tony

Well, you'd better plan to take different layers with you, because the weather can vary
from very hot to very cold depending on where you want to go :-)

Ideally, you should go to the far south during the (local) summer, to the middle in
spring/autumn and to the equatorial region in winter to avoid the worst, but even e.g. in
Peru things can get pretty chilly on the Altiplano or in the Cordilleras in the evenings.

As for the bus, the long-distance ones are pretty good overall, but local ones can get a
bit run-down. Depends which company you pick, but nothing much to worry about really...
